rock-a-bye baby

Wow I can't believe how fast time has gone by! It seems like just yesterday that we were bringing Kyri home from the hospital...so tiny, so helpless, so precious. And the only one of those that's stayed the same is the precious part. I can't believe that she is nearly 7 months old....already!

Kyri getting ready to leave the hospital. I can't believe how small she looks in her car seat ! The same one her toes are starting to hang over now! Precious.

Lately I have been reflecting on my life and how much it has changed in the last 8 months. I always loved my job as a beauty school instructor. I miss the people I worked with. I miss teaching. But nothing feels as right and as good as being a stay at home mom! A couple weeks ago I sat on the floor to play with Kyri. She started giggling for (what seemed to me) no reason. It made me giggle...and so the cycle began. We just sat and cracked each other up for 15 minutes. One of the best experiences of motherhood!

Kyri is becoming so very independent! She has not started crawling yet, but it won't be long. She is very good at scooting to her left or to her right to reach an object in sight (even is it's across the room). However, when she sees something straight ahead she gets a bit frustrated because before long she has only gotten farther away from it because she scoots backwards! It's pretty entertaining. But she has started rocking back and forth when on her hands and knees....and she's one smart cookie, so I know she'll grasp the concept soon.

Mealtime is another time of great entertainment for Gary and me. And although it can be a bit frustrating at times, we can't help but laugh. Kyri LOVED her vegetables, but when we started feeding her fruits she was not so keen on the idea. We would do everything we could think of to try and make her smile...so she would open her mouth and we could shove in the fruity goodness. However, as previously mentioned, she is one smart cookie! She would give us a smile, but she refused to open her mouth while doing so. So, we have seen many closed mouth smiles from our little babe. And when we do get a spoonful in the mouth, only half successfully, she would make gagging noises. And this might sound mean, but it makes us laugh every time...we even video taped it. Does that make us bad parents?

Gary and I love to go into Kyri's room when she's sound asleep and see just how precious she is. Whenever one of us goes in we have to go tell the other one just how she's lying and just how cute she is. Life could not get any better than knowing that this family is eternal! I am so grateful for the best baby in the world (honestly, folks, she is SO good!!) And I am especially grateful for the BEST husband in the world! I always imagined myself marrying someone who would be extremely romantic and give me flowers and massage my feet and just wow me with his romance. Instead I got Gary....which is better than any romancing I could ever imagine! He may not be romantic (at all), but he is so good to me and loves me more than I ever imagined anyone ever would! And Kyri just adores him, which just makes me love him even more!
I could go on and on about those two, but this post is already getting too long...no one will want to read it if I keep going....so now just enjoy the photos!

She gets mad when her arm gets stuck and she's too tired to figure out how to get it back in.

This is often how we find Kyri: on her tummy, hands tucked under, and bum sticking up

She was supposed to be napping....

...maybe she was too hungry to sleep?!? A big mouth...just like her daddy...or is it just like her mommy? Both...probably.

It's amazing how much more you will love her in 6 months, a year, two years....Sometimes you think there is no way your heart could get any more love into it and then it stretches. I'm so glad you get to experience this and do it with such a wonderful family. I expected no less than the best for you, and you got it! Daddies think they want a boy until they get the girl and then they become mush. I love it!!
