Thanksgiving

We hosted Thanksgiving at our house this year.   I had to work the day before and the day after so it limited our traveling options so we decided to invite others to come to our house.  Some of Mauri's siblings and their families accepted our invitation.  We were excited about it, until we realized we were in charge of the turkey. Neither of us had ever cooked a turkey before and so we were a little nervous.      We found a decent recipe online and cooked it up.  Amazingly, it turned out really moist and flavorful and everyone enjoyed it.  We had a great time with everyone and ate lots of delicious food.

Tanzi and Preslie chillin' in their high chairs.

Kyri, Graysen, and Allyssa were super excited to eat at the little table.

The youth table.  All seemed satisfied with their dinner!

We fit everyone in rather comfortably.

All the yummy food.

A very happy and full family!

Happy Halloween

We had such a fun day! Actually, we've been celebrating Halloween all week. Kyri's preschool party was on Monday. My camera battery died right at the beginning, but luckily, Graysen's party was VERY similar.....and she got to be a part of that too.

Cutest little cheerleader I've ever seen!

Ariel and Buzz

Singing some songs

Marching in the parade
The kids had a lot of fun playing games and eating snacks at both parties. Thanks, Ms. Kate!!

Dinner in a Pumpkin

All 3 kids climbed in the box and Kyri put the white tiger head on Tanzi. She left it on the rest of the afternoon! Too cute! Plus, I like how it looks like Gray is about to inflict serious pain on his sister.....

All ready for trick-or-treating....in the most PERFECT weather! No coats covering up these cute costumes!!

I reckon these are the cutest Bat Girl, Buzz Lightyear, and Witch in town!!

I brought Tanzi home while Gary took the kids to a few more houses. She was perfectly happy to eat her candy while I passed out our treats. Speaking of which, I passed out about 60 glow sticks in the 10 minutes I was home! It was crazy!!

Trick-or-Treat

Our last house to go to was great Grandma and Grandpa's, of course.
The kids were really tired, but super cute! They were all intrigued by Grandma's noisy ghost and tried everything to make it go off :) Glad they live so close!

Things as of Late...

Last week we had our first snowfall. The kids were SO excited! And very ready!

Our poor tree!
The snow came before the leaves had a chance to fall off.
It actually split one of the big branches, resulting in a loss of about 1/4-1/3 of our tree! Good thing we know these tress grow insanely fast! We are loving this big shade tree during the summer

Silly girl took her pants off. And her new thing is trying to take her diaper off! Luckily she was not successful this night.

SLEEPY.....

I sream...

...you scream...

...we all scream...for ice cream!!

Seriously?! I don't think it gets any cuter than this!!

Candy Bar Cookies I made for Kyri's preschool Halloween party.
I also made cupcakes for Graysen's party AND for Gary's work potluck, but never took a picture. SUPER yummy, though!

Pumpkin Patch Field Trips

Kyri and Graysen both had field trips to the Pumpkin Patch. One the day after the other. I could have just gone one day. But how do you tell one of your kids that they don't get to go with their class and friends, but the other one does? I couldn't. So, we went 2 days in a row...and LOVED every minute of it!!

Graysen's class....and siblings. Yes, my kids were the only ones wearing sunglasses.

hay ride

picked their pumpkins!

Going down the slide.
If you click on the picture you can see that not only is Graysen about to knock out that kid that is choosing to run up the slide, but he also looks terrified. Not enough to keep him from going....again....and again, though ;)

Ready for the train ride!
I love this picture of Tanzi because that's exactly what Graysen did the first year he went to the Pumpkin Patch

The corn box was a big hit

Kyri's day at the Pumpkin Patch

cute kids!!

Pumpkin faces!
Kinsey, Kyri, Graysen, with Davis nearby

See ya later, mom!

FUN TIMES!!

We came home with 6 pumpkins. One has already been pureed and used in some phenomenal recipes. One was used to make our Halloween "dinner in a pumpkin". That's 4 more to go. Probably all of which will be pureed, so we can enjoy yummy pumpkin recipes ALL year!!

18 month and 5 year check-ups

I'm a little late posting this....but that's about how I am with all my posts these days.
When we took the kids in for their check-ups it was a fun, family event. Graysen got his flu "shot" (mist) and was SO proud that he didn't even cry. (Kyri even told him he sniffed good) Considering he cries about EVERYTHING we were very proud parents as well :) And when the nurse told Kyri to take her shoes off and step on the scale Graysen did it instead....he was eager to see how "big" he was....let's hope his next check-up goes just as well.

Ready for the big outing

Tanzi at 18 months
Weight - 20 lbs 8 oz (5th percentile...but finally back on the charts...yea!)
Height - 31 in (25th percentile)

Tanzi is SO much fun right now! We LOVE this stage!! Yes, she is such a busy body and quite the trouble maker. However, she is also quite hilarious!! Her first word was "uh-oh" and still seems to be her favorite. She says it anytime anyone drops something or something just seems out of place. She has a lot of words she says now. Some of our favorite phrases right now: excuse me, oh boy, ME!!(when we ask "who wants.....?"), cheese (which sounds more like "eese" and is only said when posing for the camera, not for the food), and, of course, we LOVE hearing "Daaaaaaaa? Dada!!" and "Maaaaaaa!!! Mama!!" I especially love it when she's roaming the house looking for me, calling out to me or when she hears her daddy and gets REALLY excited!! Tanzi is SUPER snugly. She especially loves snuggling her daddy!! But she also will randomly snuggle Graysen, which I think is super cute. He usually likes it too, but not always. Tanzi loves to dance and sing. She also loves pulling a tiny piece of tissue off the toilet paper roll, wipe her nose or bum, then throw it away. Yet, somehow, there are TONS of tiny pieces of toilet paper ALL over EVERY single bathroom....all the time!! Tanzi is a super good sleeper at night. She generally sleeps from about 6:30 or 7:00 pm until 7:00 or 7:30 am. Her naps, however, are not so awesome. She usually naps for about 1 1/2 hours every day. She is just always still tired when she wakes up. I'm hoping it's just a phase because she's teething (getting her last 4 teeth...canines) and that she'll start napping a bit longer...or at least not being tired with the nap she does get. Our "Little Miss" is SO much fun and we are so happy to have her in our lives!!

Kyri at 5 years
Weight - 39 lbs (25th percentile)
Height - 3.25 ft (60th percentile)

Kyri had to get her "kindergarten shots" and, oh boy, it was SO traumatizing!! We had her get her shots first, before Tanzi, and she started SCREAMING before the needles ever even touched her arms!! WOW!! Oh, and before that she had to get her finger pricked and she screamed about that too! It was truly a traumatic experience! BUT...she got to pee in a cup...and she was really excited about that. I, on the other hand, who had to hold the cup for her while she peed in it? Not so thrilled.

Kyri is getting SO big and is such a huge helper!! She is truly the BEST big sister! When Graysen cries about not getting his way (which we have already discussed is often), Kyri will often give him what he wants. Or I will sometimes hear her say, "Gray, Gray, before you cry let me tell you a deal!" And she makes a great pan to make them both happy. And while she yells at her brother (a lot) she really is a sweet girl and is generally trying to do what is right. Kyri has started reading. She LOVES it and is always sounding things out. She will do this while writing things down too. The other day she gave a paper to her teacher that said, "Kyri Rooth Alin" I thought it was super cute!! Kyri recently had to memorize a couple things. 1) our phone number. This took a bit of practice, but she's got it down!! 2) her part for the primary program which was, "Honesty is telling the truth regardless of the consequences" She did an AWESOME job on that! And it was a great teaching experience as she asked me what honesty, regardless, and consequences meant. (Yes, I am the one who wrote the program, so I was the one who gave that particular part to Kyri. I did that on purpose because we have had problems with Kyri lying. I am grateful we were able to talk about it and learn from it. She has not been lying as much! I just hope that other parents were able to have similar teaching experiences) Kyri loves preschool. She loves her brother and sister. And she is SO excited for another baby brother! We love our "big girl" and are so glad she is a part of our family!!

Stitches Update

Now you see 'em
(this picture cracks me up...it was in the car RIGHT before going into the hospital....she knows what's coming)

Now you don't!
They put 3 steri-strips on to try to help keep the wound from reopening, since it was so deep to begin with. They (the steri-strips) lasted all of about an hour or so.

Healing nicely
