wiggin' out

So I was at Wal-Mart yesterday and this lady was following me. I figured she must also need to take a prescription to the pharmacy. She said, "excuse me are you from around here?" I could tell she still had some words on the tip of her tongue, but I simply said, "no, I'm not". I'm not sure she even heard me because she immediately blurted out "do you know where there is a wig store around here?"
What? Does it look like I wear a wig or something? That's random.
She proceeded to tell me that her sister is going through chemo (I do feel bad about that), she's (the lady that's talking, not her sister) from Cache Valley, and she needs to find some wigs for her sister. I told her I didn't know of any around here, but coincidentally I knew of one in Logan. While in the process of telling her where it is in Logan she turned around and scurried off with her cart...apparently she didn't need to go to the pharmacy she really was just following me.
Maybe I should change my hair...does it really look that fake?

Mauri's randomness...

Random thought:

The other day I was talking to a good friend of mine who stated that "facebook is for single people and blogs are for married people"...I think that's so true! Not that married people don't ever get onto facebook or single people don't have blogs, but it's just how much time we spend on a certain social network. Gary's brother, Dustin, thinks that blogs are just to show off kids...and I can't really disagree with that either...every proud parent has a blog! But if you are single, married, with or without kids, if you have a blog I am bound to check it...EVERYday!! So...start a blog, show off your self, your kids, your car, it's all entertainment to me!

random photo to go with the random thought. Courtesy of my sister, Tawn, who sent this to me and asked what Gary was doing lying in the grass...(you can click on the photo to enlarge it if you can't quite make him out)

reaching major milestones...

People always say "they grow SO fast" but you have NO idea what that really means until it actually happens right before your eyes. In the last couple of days Kyri has done a couple of things that have made us cheer and make complete fools of ourselves...and Kyri stares at us in wonder. Little does she know that she will one day be just as crazy as her parents.....probably. Kyri started crawling (not far, but it won't take long for her to really take off now). And the other day I turned my back for a split second and when I turned around she managed to get herself from her tummy back to the sitting position. Both are things she's really been getting frustrated not being able to do......she finally did it!! YEA!! She also started sleeping through the night. But that only lasted about 3 days. I guess I can't complain too much...the Dr said that most babies want to be fed around 5am and that's about what time I get up to feed her. She then will go back to sleep until between 7 and 8...usually. We are so proud of our little baby!!

no wonder she was crying so much....she finally gave up crying and just went to sleep.

Kyri doesn't suck on a pacifier, but it's her favorite toy to just chew on. The other day she got it stuck on her thumb. We couldn't stop laughing because she just kept playing with other toys, as if the binky wasn't even there. She FINALLY managed to pull it off.
HI!

this picture cracks me up!! Kyri's headband is so far forward it makes her ears stick out...and the face she's making...she looks like a little monkey....people DO say she looks just like her daddy :)

Daddy's little girl. Aren't they cute?

some recent photos

Well we're up and running once again! Silly computer. Anyway, here are a few recent photos that I tried to post last week. Better late than never....and still as cute as ever!

It's so funny being stuck under the couch!

Kyri enjoying a day in the sun...as chilly as it was...she was watching her daddy wash the car

what a good little helper

She's cute...and she knows it!

Gary LOVES his new car...and washes it at least once a week...what a good husband!

what is wrong?

Okay, so ever since I last posted I've been trying to post another one....BUT it won't upload any photos!!! What is going on?!?! It's frustrating!! Anyway, I would have more posts and more photos if it was working properly.......what does one do in a time of such a crisis?!? ...help...

pity party?

Gary says I always like to have pity parties for myself....and that's just not true!! I would much rather someone else have one for me! So here are my tales of woe: it has been made very clear to me that not very many members of my family check out our blog. Okay, my mom is the ONLY one of my family members who accepted the invite. I knew something was fishy when I posted the American Idol poll and there have only been a hand full of votes. You see, my family is very much into American Idol...and so I expected them to vote on our poll, but instead I found that they don't even look at our blog!! What is happening to them? Thanks to Gary's family for pulling through and checking us out!! And to all of our lovely friends...you are all fabulous!
We recently came in contact (thanks Grandma Allen) with the largest lemon I have ever seen!! HUGE!! And here's some photos to prove it!

That's right...it's a lemon

SOUR?

it must be

Tag...I'm IT!!

I was a senior in high school, looking forward to gradutation. Don't get me wrong, I quite enjoyed high school, but it was time to be done...

5 things on my to-do list today...
1. blog...clearly
2. do the dishes...we DON'T have a dishwasher...poor me
3. play with and read stories to Kyri...favorite part of the day
4. take a nap...that's what I look forward to every afternoon!!
5. make dinner...any ideas?

5 snacks I enjoy:
(must I narrow it down to only 5?)
1. air-popped popcorn (or what I like to call "homemade" popcorn) with just the right amount of butter and salt
2. I quite enjoy cheetos...the puffy ones
3. shrimp cocktails...is that a snack? it is when I make it one
4. almonds
5. ice cream....always a good snack!!

If I suddenly became a billionaire...
I would probably pee my pants!! Holy crap that's a lot of money!! Then I would like to buy a house. I would travel with Gary and Kyri to Australia, New Zealand, and Poland....and anywhere else we felt like visiting. I'm sure I'd spend a bit on some new clothes for myself and the family...and, of course, I'd have to buy some new shoes to fill up my new ginormous walk-in closet. I would invest some for us, some for Kyri, and some for future children. And the rest would be put away for a rainy day....hopefully it rains soon!

5 places I've lived:
1. Pocatello, Idaho
2. Garden City, Utah (Bear Lake)
3. Logan, Utah
4. Columbia, South Carolina
5. Sydney, Australia

5 jobs I've had
1. LaBeau's (famous shakes) in Bear Lake
2. Tasty Treet (delicious drive-in) in Pocatello
3. Farm Bureau Insurance
4. BATC Beauty School
5. stay-at-home-mom (best job in the world!!)

5 things you don't know about me:
this is hard because my life is an open book...not too many secrets...hmmm...
1. I'm a die-hard American Idol fan. That's right, I've been known to cast a vote...or two....or several....and this season is just getting good!!
2. I LOVE to read...but don't do it as much as I would like to...or else my family would probably get neglected. The last book I read in 1 1/2 days. I would have read it in just one day, but I had a baby and a husband to feed....
3. I LOVE living in Kaysville, but I sure wish I lived in a house....don't tell Gary, bless his heart, he picked this place out all on his own...but he does know I want to move into something bigger (and a bit nicer), and I think he does too
4. I LOVE to bake!! I would spend all day baking up goodies, but I generally don't because Gary doesn't eat them...he prefers candy...and so then I eat all the baked goods myself...not a good idea
5. I've never cleaned the toilet since we got married....you can ask Gary why...

I'm not going to tag anyone, but if you'd like to be it, please feel free to take that upon yourself...

rock-a-bye baby

Wow I can't believe how fast time has gone by! It seems like just yesterday that we were bringing Kyri home from the hospital...so tiny, so helpless, so precious. And the only one of those that's stayed the same is the precious part. I can't believe that she is nearly 7 months old....already!

Kyri getting ready to leave the hospital. I can't believe how small she looks in her car seat ! The same one her toes are starting to hang over now! Precious.

Lately I have been reflecting on my life and how much it has changed in the last 8 months. I always loved my job as a beauty school instructor. I miss the people I worked with. I miss teaching. But nothing feels as right and as good as being a stay at home mom! A couple weeks ago I sat on the floor to play with Kyri. She started giggling for (what seemed to me) no reason. It made me giggle...and so the cycle began. We just sat and cracked each other up for 15 minutes. One of the best experiences of motherhood!

Kyri is becoming so very independent! She has not started crawling yet, but it won't be long. She is very good at scooting to her left or to her right to reach an object in sight (even is it's across the room). However, when she sees something straight ahead she gets a bit frustrated because before long she has only gotten farther away from it because she scoots backwards! It's pretty entertaining. But she has started rocking back and forth when on her hands and knees....and she's one smart cookie, so I know she'll grasp the concept soon.

Mealtime is another time of great entertainment for Gary and me. And although it can be a bit frustrating at times, we can't help but laugh. Kyri LOVED her vegetables, but when we started feeding her fruits she was not so keen on the idea. We would do everything we could think of to try and make her smile...so she would open her mouth and we could shove in the fruity goodness. However, as previously mentioned, she is one smart cookie! She would give us a smile, but she refused to open her mouth while doing so. So, we have seen many closed mouth smiles from our little babe. And when we do get a spoonful in the mouth, only half successfully, she would make gagging noises. And this might sound mean, but it makes us laugh every time...we even video taped it. Does that make us bad parents?

Gary and I love to go into Kyri's room when she's sound asleep and see just how precious she is. Whenever one of us goes in we have to go tell the other one just how she's lying and just how cute she is. Life could not get any better than knowing that this family is eternal! I am so grateful for the best baby in the world (honestly, folks, she is SO good!!) And I am especially grateful for the BEST husband in the world! I always imagined myself marrying someone who would be extremely romantic and give me flowers and massage my feet and just wow me with his romance. Instead I got Gary....which is better than any romancing I could ever imagine! He may not be romantic (at all), but he is so good to me and loves me more than I ever imagined anyone ever would! And Kyri just adores him, which just makes me love him even more!
I could go on and on about those two, but this post is already getting too long...no one will want to read it if I keep going....so now just enjoy the photos!

She gets mad when her arm gets stuck and she's too tired to figure out how to get it back in.

This is often how we find Kyri: on her tummy, hands tucked under, and bum sticking up

She was supposed to be napping....

...maybe she was too hungry to sleep?!? A big mouth...just like her daddy...or is it just like her mommy? Both...probably.

Two peas in a pod

Conference Weekend

This last weekend was so much fun! Gary's family came and, at some point, his parents and ALL of his siblings were here in our humble abode. (we missed you Amber, Jadan, Cooper, and Shae!) We had a great time talking, playing family feud, watching Prince of Egypt (Cameron and Kalen), eating lots of food, and for the brothers playing Cities and Knights (way to go Danny and Todd...it seems like Gary ALWAYS wins :) )And of course we were able to watch Conference together....well, some of us watched it. :) Now, the only way I feel good about posting such photos of my in-laws is by knowing that I am the favorite child-in-law....okay, okay so we all know that's not true because Pops and Mops don't have favorites, but by tricking myself into thinking that I am allows me to post these great pictures of the fabulous family I married into!! I love you ALL!! :)

At least somebody is awake for Conference

our big adventure

Kyri and I went with Grandma and Grandpa Mecham on a little adventure. We stopped off at the Ryan Mecham household in Caldwell, Idaho then worked our way up to Sunnyside, Washington to see the Gardner clan for Morgan's baptism. Kyri LOVED having her big cousins play with her...and her big cousins just couldn't get enough! We had such a great time. Thanks for taking us and putting up with us Grandma and Grandpa! We hope to be able to go on many more adventures in the not so distant future.

Rebecca, Kyri, and Caroline...with a nice shot of what Caroline refers to as her "crazy toe"

Morgan, Cole, Rebecca, Avery, Kyri, Kendra, and Caroline all patiently awaiting church Sunday morning.
What a poser!
Kyri loves bath time and gets excited about the bubbles
