A Snowy January

We have definitely had a really snowy January, as you will see from the majority of our pictures. Other than that we haven't taken a whole lot of pictures.
Here's a peak at what we've been up to over the last month

Kyri got some lip gloss for Christmas from Santa. She picked out a color and told me it was the one she wanted because it was the same color as Grammy's lip gloss. Then she went into her bathroom to put it on. When I saw her I let her know it was all over her face and she just needed it on her lips. She said, "Oh, I guess next time I should look in the mirror and watch what I'm doing." You think?!?! :) And, apparently, some things never change - check out this post

We have definitely all had our fair share of sickness around here....poor baby

playing in the snow

and getting hands wet under the drain....needless to say the kids came in with icy cold fingers!!

 just....so....tired

a LOT more snow

which means a LOT of shoveling

 pretty little icicles
(yes, our Christmas lights are still up. It snowed over Christmas break, got super cold, snowed some more, etc. However, at least we didn't have a nativity in our yard, like one of our neighbors, and the wise men got buried in the snow and ice...luckily baby Jesus is still dry on their porch :)

Wearing brother's boots with one on backwards (she actually just calls Gray brother, not Graysen...I think his name is too hard for her to say)

potty power - just practicing up

ready to have a super fun snow day with daddy (who needs some actual snow boots, so he doesn't have to wear bags over his shoes)

daddy shoveling out a path and making a "fort"

what a good daddy-o

creating a super big, fun maze in the snow

don't worry, he knew better than to throw that snow ball at me

YUM

chillin' with daddy

what a fun time!

Our friends, the Moss's, are expecting baby #3. They have 2 girls already and wanted to do something fun and creative to reveal the sex of this baby. So, Kellie asked me to make a cake and have the cake be the appropriate color for what they are having (she brought me an ultra sound picture) So, I made the cake and then Gary decorated it. It was a lot of fun. And we felt super privileged to be the very first to know the gender of their baby.
Inside?
Pink.
They are not disappointed
How FUN!

Graysen's preschool field trip to the fire station. Kyri and Gray held hands the entire time. A lot of moms commented on how cute it is that they are always holding hands and so concerned about each other.

getting ready to watch a fire safety video

on the fire truck

Ms Kate putting on all the firemen gear...helping the kids realize they should not ever be scared of someone wearing that outfit, but should always go to them if they are in a dangerous, fire situation

On the front of the fire truck - what a super fun field trip!

ice storm

those small icicles you saw before are not so smallish anymore

bum...

...too...

...big!

too many bags

Oh, what do ya know...more snow!

snow mounds higher than the cars

We have such amazing neighbors! Gary would shovel in the morning before work and then in the afternoon a neighbor would come and either shovel or snow blow again.
LOVE our awesome neighbors!

turning into one big icicle

that's a lot of snow

cute girl!
Oh, and notice all those puzzles behind her? Well, she LOVES to get ALL the puzzles out, dump the pieces out (usually in our bedroom doorway, since it's right by the toy closet) and then just leave it! Every. Single. Day. But with a little bit of coaxing she will do the puzzles and is actually quite good at them!

more snow

no where else to put it. When shoveling, the snow either goes over the top and onto the neighbor's driveway or just falls back down into our driveway

some of our neighbors who have been here for over 10 years say they have never seen a winter quite like this! It was seriously CRAZY!

we got a lot of snow here, but that was not the case in the mountains, unfortunately, and strangely enough

see how much our small icicles grew? Yes, they are going from the top roof all the way down to the roof over the porch.

Some of our neighbors had them from the top of their roof nearly all the way to the ground!

backyard snow

Kyri's preschool class took a field trip to the grocery store, Kent's.
The kids LOVED it. They got a grocery bag that they carried around and put goodies in from every  department. Unfortunately, this is the only picture I took. But it was super fun, especially since this is a store we frequent quite often

Another snow day with daddy

Once there was a snow man

how creative

but by the time it was the weekend and the snow had settled a bit and even melted some (we had a couple days of a heat wave....got into the high 30's low 40's!)  the snow was not so soft and powdery anymore, as you can see, Kyri is just lying on top of the crusted snow

DINNER

So, Kyri has had a lot of cavities. All of which are "flosser" cavities, because we didn't floss her teeth. Well, you better believe we do now! After several cavities, many visits to the dentist, and one  filling that was much too close to a nerve, she had to have a tooth pulled. This tooth fairy may be cheap compared to others, but she doesn't mind, she was just happy the tooth fairy let her keep her tooth :)

Tonight is Tanzi's first night in her big girl bed. We decided we better get her used to it before her baby brother comes and takes over the crib. We were sort of expecting her to cry about not being in her crib, or to dink around in her room or something, but she didn't. We warned Kyri that she might need to be patient with Tanzi and maybe even help her not be sad. Graysen was that way and ALWAYS ended up in Kyri's bed. Well, Kyri came out of her room once, shortly after we put them down because Tanzi was in her bed, but Gary just put Tanzi back into her own bed and we never heard another peep out of either of them. Let's hope every night (AND nap) goes this well!!
Fingers crossed
